Last week was a busy one for me and Dick. We praise the Lord for the good rains and they finally graded our road. The Rome road was getting almost impossible to drive on in some spots.
The flu bug and strep hit the Thompson house for over a week, Kyle was out of school two days, Kailey three days and Kelly got strep Friday and Kinsey came down with it over the weekend. She is with us today, March 7. Hopefully she can get back in school tomorrow.
I met my sister, Norma Cross, Aunt Vi Twibble and cousin, Renee and her granddaughter, Kindel in Ozark Tuesday for lunch at Shoney’s. Dick and I along with Larry and Lynn Clatyon, Danny Davis, Larry Tidwell, and Becky Cavalier met at the Goodhope General Baptist Church to prepare lunch for the Jim Rasch family. His funeral was Friday afternoon at the Ava Family Funeral Home.
Friday evening at 7 o’clock was the benefit singing for Bob Huskey at Goodhope General Baptist Church. The house was nearly full with Bob and Ella Mae’s friends and neighbors. Bob has been living in the area for several years. Lots of people have come to know them and love them for their Christian work. He has been a pastor and witness for Christ to lots of people. This benefit was to give back a little of what they have given to so many.
The Goodhope General Baptist Church youth leaders took 30 young people to the Chris Tomlin concert at James River Assembly Thursday night. There was a conflict with a ballgame so some youth didn’t get to go. It was the first concert some youth had ever attended. Everyone said it was very good. I think there was some tired people in school Friday. We all at Goodhope General Baptist Church appreciate Debbie Tidwell, Lisa Woodall and Kim Cook for their work with our youth. Becky Cavalier drove some of the youth on the trip. Dick and I stopped to see Peggy Jenkins at the nursing home. We went to see Helen Dobbins Sunday after church.
