Funeral services for Ralph H. Riggs Sr., 80, of East Moline, Ill., were held at the Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. Burial was at St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Moline.
Mr. Riggs died Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010, at home.
Ralph was born June 1, 1930, in Thornfield, the son of Lee and Erdie Heriford Riggs. He grew up in Ava and moved to the Quad Cities area after serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He married Laura Levrouw on March 27, 1954, in East Moline, Ill. She died July 2, 2002.
He had been a machine operator for the former International Harvester, East Moline. He was a NASCAR and St. Louis Cardinals fan. He enjoyed playing cards and in his earlier years was an excellent pool player.
Survivors include his daughters, Beverly (Dan) Meguffy, Hillsdale, Ill., Connie (Westly) Woolsey, Milan, Ill.; sons, Ralph Riggs Jr., East Moline, Ill., Rickey (Sue) Riggs, Moline, Ill., Jody Riggs, East Moline, Ill.; grandchildren, Alicia (Matt) Schnepple, Chelsey Cordes, Shawn Riggs, West Woolsey, Zachary Woolsey, Jennifer Hetzel and Nicholas Hetzel; great-grandchildren, Olivia and Tyler.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; siblings, Maxine Loftin-Johnson, Quincy Riggs, Norman Riggs, Gene Riggs and Cleo Herd.
