Faith Rock Church

It has been a cool, wet morning here in Ava on this Tuesday. It’s our quilting day and most of our regulars are here today and we always enjoy our time together.

We want to say happy birthday to Sis. Jean Heinlein, Sis. Dessie Miller and Bro. Jerry Miller. We hope they all have a great week and maybe some sunny days this week. Our daughter, Sherry and her husband, Wes, have an anniversary today and we wish them a happy anniversary. Sherry said they were too busy this week to celebrate, but maybe before too long they could get away.

We were told Sunday that Bro. Heinlein is in the Ava nursing home. We hope he gets well enough to go back home before long. Sis. Norma Fry is still at St. John’s Hospital, after having surgery about two weeks ago. She had improved some, but will be there a couple more weeks we heard and then back to Mtn. Grove nursing home, I imagine.

I spent the day with my cousin, Dessie Miller in Springfield yesterday. Jerry and I went with her to her doctor’s appointment. She is to have surgery on her eye next Tuesday. Remember her as you pray.

Some of our ladies are driving to Seymour to do water aerobics and we are trying to go three or four times a week. I have enjoyed going and the exercise is great. Sis. Barbara Chance told me today she was going to Cox Hospital to see a new great grandbaby girl today who was born weighing between 5 and 6 lbs. This will make Sheryl one new granddaughter. The new baby is Sis. Dessie Miller’s great, great granddaughter and Mark Chance is the grandfather. Congratulations.

Sis. Lena called and let us know that Bob Box passed away and his funeral is tomorrow. Our thoughts are with the family.

Bro. Darrel and Sis. Betty Hesterlee have been very sick with the flu and are still sick and coughing a lot. We’ve missed them the last two weekends. Their daughter, Patty, has had it real bad as has some of my family and several of my church family.

We had a great service Sunday morning. Bro. Bob Fleetwood taught the adult class from Luke and Jesus overcomes temptation. Sis. Wanda Ray’s class, Albany and Clair did memory verses for us. We had a good song service. Specials were sung. Pastor
Dewitt preached from Joshua 24;13-15 and II Chronicles 7:12-15 and James 4:3-10. Sometimes it’s hard for us to resist the wiles of the devil. The world can look pretty good at times, but it’s an enemy of God.

Sunday night Sis. Loretta Dewitt preached as she usually does on Sunday night. Her message was from Col. 3:8-17 titled “What Will The Well Dressed Christian Wear?” We all need this peace of god that it brings to us when we do God’s will.

We had many visitors Sunday night from other areas and some from Arkansas. We appreciated their being here and the good special singing they did, especially the good presence of the Lord. God bless you all another week and come and meet our new pastors and we will try to make you feel welcome.
