Edna was born March 3, 1921 in Vera Cruz, Mo., to Charlie and Ida (Reed) Clinton.
On Feb. 5, 1938 Edna and Rexford Farren Linder were united in marriage in Douglas County, Mo., and to this union four children were born. They were blessed with 69 years of marriage. Edna worked on the farm with Rex for many years before moving to Ava in 1961. She also worked as a cook for several years at the Sugar Shack Drive-In, in Ava and for the Walnut Grove School.
Edna was a member of the Faith Rock Church in Ava.
She enjoyed gardening, canning, quilting, reading the Bible and attending church. She attended church as long as she was able. Her joy was being with all her family and especially with her grandchildren. She loved the family gatherings at her house at Christmas time.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rex in 2007; a daughter, Jane; two grandsons, Ryan Smith and Farren Acra; eight brothers and five sisters.
Edna is survived by three children, James Linder and wife, Joyce, Norwood, Mo., Ruby Smith, Ava, Mo. and Delena Proctor, Mtn. Grove, Mo.; six grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; one brother, George Clinton, Cabool, Mo.; and one sister, Rose Clinton, Willow Springs, Mo.; one aunt, Minnie Snoddy, Ava, Mo.; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Edna were Wednesday, March 16, at 2 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, Mo., with burial in the Brushyknob Cemetery. Visitation was Wednesday, from 1 p.m. to service time in the funeral home. Officiating was the Rev. Freeda Holt. Memorials may be made to Gideons.
