The Ava Art Guild and Gallery has been closed for the winter but now that spring is in the air it is time for the gallery to reopen.
The guild has a lot of great workshops and activities planned for this year.
On Saturday, March 19, the Gallery will reopen to the public and the Guild will have its first meeting of 2011. The Gallery will open at 10 a.m. and be open until 4 p.m.
The Art Guild meeting will have social time at 1 p.m. with refreshments served and a time for members and friends to reconnect after the long cold winter with a photography workshop starting at 2 p.m. The photography demonstration will be conducted by Ronnie Yocum, a professional photographer.
Workshops are always free and open to the public. You do not have to be a member to attend the meetings or workshops.
Membership is only $10 a year for adults, $5 for youth under 18 and gives you voting rights and benefits to the guild and gallery.
Every month the guild conducts art workshops by local and visiting artists. There are also other events held throughout the year including spring and fall judged art shows, The Festival of Arts in December, art classes and other exciting events.
“We hope the members of the guild have been busy this winter creating art,” said Candace Butler. “Members are encouraged to bring their never before displayed art to the gallery for the public to view.”
The Ava Art Gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is open and free to the public. There are unique gifts and art for sale. For more information email avaartguild@yahoo.com, look for us on Facebook, or call 417-693-6413.
