Ruby (Slate) Davis passed away Feb. 3, 2011.
She was born Aug. 31, 1911, on a farm at Brushyknob, Mo. She left for California in 1929 to live with a brother, Ova Slate and Dee (Linder) Slate in Midway City, Calif., where she graduated from school. There she met her bus driver, fell in love, and married Boyd Davis on June 25, 1932.
They lived in Huntington most of their married life which would span over 62 years, and had two sons.
She was a loving mother and grandmother with a strong faith which sustained her through hardships and heartbreaking losses, and inspired others with her playing piano and singing. She passed music on to her family.
The only thing more beautiful than Aunt Ruby’s roses was her kindness, her class and style, and her inner beauty.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd; a son, Lester; her parents; eight brothers; three sisters including Goldia Krider, from Mtn. Grove, Netus Proctor and Bernice Henley; nephews Lonnie Krider and Carl Lee Krider.
Survivors are Gary Davis and several grandchildren; a niece, Vivian Floyd, of Rogersville; and nephews, Donald and Harley Krider, Peoria, Ill.
Services were held Feb. 10 in Westminster, Calif.
