Kay Bliss Thompson, 72 years, passed away on March 8, 2011, at her home from a sudden illness.
Kay was born May 1, 1938 in Rochelle, Ill., to O.C. “Casey” and Emily (Harris) Sherwood.
On July 28, 1956 Kay and Leo Thompson were united in marriage in Rochelle, Ill., and to this union four children were born.
Kay enjoyed reading books, professional shopping, riding in Leo’s sidecar, her dogs and especially loved reading and playing with her grandchildren.
Kay was preceded by her parents.
Kay is survived by her husband, Leo Lester Thompson, Ava, Mo.; four children and their spouses, William “Bill” and Sherry Thompson, Nixa, Mo., Debra and Rollan Stewart, Catherine and Randy Tate and David and Cindy Thompson, all of Ava, Mo.; nine grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jack Sherwood, Hawaii, and Dick Sherwood, Florida; a dear, dear friend, Shirley; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A visitation/memorial for Kay will be Saturday, March 12, from 2 to 3 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, Mo. Memorials may be made to Fannon Cemetery.
