Students Present Friday Feast Program to Local Catholic Church

Leaders in Community Service Class presented their Friday Feast PowerPoint presentation at St. Leo’s Catholic Church parish during Sunday services on Feb. 20.

A generous donation of $820 was collected and donated to the Friday Feast Fund.

Friday Feast is Ava Schools’ program that supplies nutritious foods on Fridays to children in kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades.

The Leaders in Community Service class has 14 high school student members who fundraise, select and buy food, pack the food and deliver it to the classes every week. The cost per week for this service is $250.

This is the fourth year that Friday Feast has been in service at Ava Schools. Each year the Leaders in Community Service Class must raise $9,000. It is an ongoing struggle to raise the money. Fortunately, several churches, community organizations and individuals have donated in the last four years and the group has also received a few grants from some businesses.

If there is anyone interested in giving to this program or have questions about it, please contact the Ava High School office at 417-683-5747.
