James D. Cain, 47, of Mtn. Grove was arrested in Texas County on Friday, Feb. 25, on a Douglas County warrant for 1st degree felony burglary, 1st degree felony domestic assault and misdemeanor theft/stealing.
The charges stemmed from an altercation that occurred in the Vanzant area of Douglas County on Feb. 22. Cain is accused of going to his ex-wife’s residence where he unlawfully entered the residence, took property that did not belong to him and struck his ex-wife with the vehicle as he was leaving, knocking her to the ground and causing injury.
Lt. Atonya Mansi of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call at the residence but Cain was gone when she arrived. A warrant was requested, Texas County was notified, and on Feb. 25 Cain was arrested by Texas County authorities.
The suspect was transported to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office where he was placed in custody. Sheriff Chris Degase said Cain has now been released on $62,000 bond.
