Eddie D. Harlan, 68

Eddie D. Harlan, 68 years, passed away on Feb. 27, 2011 at his home with his family by his side.

Eddie was born Feb. 7, 1943 in Kansas City, Mo., to David and Alta (Pepper) Harlan.

Eddie was a resident of the Ava community since 1999 moving from Smithville, Mo. He was raised at Camden Point, Mo.

On June 1, 1962 Eddie and Virginia Turner were united in marriage in Platte City, Mo. Eddie was a retired mechanic and had worked for TWA Airlines for 34 years. He and Virginia retired to Ava and owned and operated The Mom & Pop’s Bait and Beverage. Eddie was a member of the Christian Church in Camden Point, Mo.

His hobbies were Belgian horses, flying model airplanes and fishing.

Eddie was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia Harlan, Ava, Mo.; three sons, Dean and wife Julie Harlan, Ava, Mo., Kevin Johnson, Rogersville, Mo., and Kevin Davis, Ava, Mo.; six grandchildren, Nicki and husband, Scott, Annie, Kitty, Tyler, Brianna and Carlie; four great-grandchildren, Dustin, Rowdy, Brooke and Eli; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Eddie will be Thursday, March 3, at 10 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, Mo., with burial in the Thornfield Cemetery, Thornfield, Mo. Visitation will be Thursday, March 3, from 9 a.m. to service time in the funeral home. Officiating will be the Revs. Tom Johnson and Tony Turner.
