Things that happen each year, but they never fail to thrill me. Crocus blooming! One little bunch of crocus is blooming in my front yard. They are a bright yellow and look so cheery against the brown grass and leaves around them. This certain bunch has been here for at least 40 years. Bob and I have lived here for around 37 years, Bob’s folks lived here before that but I think Clessie Hurst probably planted them when she lived here. I have transplanted them here and there in different places in the yard throughout the years and they have always bloomed again every spring. Through the years I have planted purple crocus and white, but that one bunch is my favorite. More of my favorite things.
Sunday afternoon most of the family gathered at my dad’s to celebrate his 93rd birthday. Those attending were the guest of honor, J.W. Sloan, Donna Sloan, Ginger Sloan, Bob and Karen Case, Raymond and Jeannie Cummings, Sue Porter, Venessa and Jenna Mills, Colby and Lynn Mitchell, Jason and Alicia Crouch, Danielle and Hayden, Lyndel and Karen Cantrell, Jordan and Conner, Roger, Deana and Ryan Magnuson, Kesha Schreiber, Brayden and Brianna, Scott and Julie Lawson. We had a good time visiting and eating, and Jason and Alicia and their kids brought there instruments and played some bluegrass which was very enjoyable.
I put wrong information in the paper last week, our boys did not start district play last Saturday but Tuesday of this week. The girls played on Monday night. As of this writing I don’t know any of the results.
Dean Rogers was with his grandpa, Delbert Johnson at church Sunday. Dean is Mandy and Duane Rogers’ son and goes to school at Reeds Spring and had competed in a improvisational drama competition at Ava on Saturday. Dean, forgive me if I got the name of that competition wrong.
Bob and I ran into Kathryn and Chuck Braden at Wal-Mart last Saturday and had a good visit. Richard had the flu and was waiting for Kathryn and Chuck in the car, so Bob visited with him for just a minute when we were on the way to our car.
Julie Lawson attended Khailey Arrington’s baby shower at Theodosia last Saturday, and had a good time visiting with Khailey and her family. Julie said Khailey’s younger twin sisters were almost as tall as she was and it was a shock to see how much they had grown. I had planned to go with Julie but just ran out of time for everything I needed to get done.
I heard from several people that the baby shower for Kayla and Bub Blair was very well attended by lots of family and friends and there were many nice things received for their expected baby Noah.
