Ava Kiwanis Club News

With the weather turning warmer, it’s nice to be able to get back into a regular routine of meetings.  On Feb. 24, we welcomed February Citizens of the Month, some family members and Assistant Principal David Williams. We always look forward to our citizens meeting on the 4th week of each month.

Glenda and Donna have returned from Mid Winter Conference held in Springfield last weekend.  It was a time of seeing familiar faces and meeting new people.  We also attended some interesting forums and had some good entertainment and programs with our meals.

The highlight of the weekend came when we were presented a certificate, pins and patch for our banner in recognition of our Distinguished Status!  We are one of only three clubs in our division to receive this honor and are very pleased to have completed the required criteria in order to earn it three years in a row now.

At this week’s meeting, we’ll be discussing fundraisers and Kiwanis One Day as well as other items on our agenda.  The public is welcome to sit it on a meeting–who knows? You may enjoy it and want to become a part of it!

Upcoming Event:  Please join us at Pizza Hut from 5-8 pm on March 10 when some of our members will be working there to raise funds for our club.

Other events in March include:

March 8, Chamber Luncheon at Decker Library hosted by Ava R-1.

March 10, Pizza Hut Fundraiser.

March 14, Terrific Kids at Ava Elementary.

March 24, Citizens of the Month.
