Fundraising efforts are well underway for the Ava Community Playground Project. Donations are starting to pour in and several components to the playground have already been sponsored. Before we know it, we will have reached our projected budget goal. We appreciate all the individuals and businesses that have already made a donation whether it be monetary, services or supplies.
Core committee volunteers have been busy visiting with local businesses to deliver and discuss the playground Sponsorship Packets, as well as answer any questions that they have. If you are a local business owner and you haven’t had a visit yet, expect to see a playground volunteer within the next couple of weeks with your opportunity to participate in this momentous community event.
We’ve had several people with questions and so we hope to answer a few questions each week in our weekly post. If you have a question that you would like answered, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will be happy to find the answers for you.
Where is the community playground going to be built?
Behind the Missouri Ozarks Community Health Wellness Center. The land was made available last October by MOCH after hearing we were looking for a place to build.
Do you have to be a member of the MOCH Wellness Center to use the park?
No. This playground will be open to everyone from dawn to dark. The playground will be absolutely free to use.
Who is paying for this project?
The community playground will be paid for by grants, corporate sponsors, individual donations and fundraising. This is strictly a non-profit endeavor built by volunteers.
How and when will the playground be built?
In the Fall of 2011, the playground will be assembled by a team of area volunteers over the course of a week-long build–very much like the extreme building shows you see on television.
Core Committee meetings will be held on Thursday nights from 5pm to 7:30pm. To find out more information about the playground, contact Jessica Jenkins @ 417-343-5703 or visit the playground website at www.avaplayground.com.
