On this 7th Sunday after Epiphany we began with the Bible readings as follows: Leviticus 19:1-2, 9-18, Psalm 119:33-40 and the New Testament 1 Corinthians 3:10-11, 16-23, Gospel: Matthew 5: 38-48.
Our lector was Donna Hamm.
Pastor Wayne Strohschein’s sermon today was based on the lesson from Matthew 5:38-48. He focused on Jesus saying that we are to pray for those who persecute us to which we can add our long list of people we don’t like for one reason or another. It is easy to understand this text, he said, but not easy to do.
Why pray for them? The bottom line is, God wants to be reconciled to them and sent His Son so that could happen and He wants us
to join Him in that task of making His desire known, to be His voice to them. God will take care of the rest.
Pastor Wayne installed the New Board of Directors to do their excellent work of the Church and to keep our Church in good working order; our prayers and thanks to each of you.
