We celebrate President’s Day on February 21, and spring begins just a month away on March 20 according to the calendar.
Norine Loftis had her brothers and sisters dropping by and her children also as she celebrated a birthday this Tuesday, the 22nd of February.
Karen K. Davis and I spent Tuesday of last week in Mtn. Home shopping and visited in Baxter Co. Regional Hospital with Marcia Lyon and husband, Dean, who was with her. She had surgery Monday the 14th, and our prayers are with her for a complete recovery very soon.
In last weeks paper I wrote that Joyce May, from Caulfield area, was in St. Louis Hospital, but it is a Springfield Hospital instead. A benefit was held for her in Caulfield.
Lynn Farel, of Udall, had triple by-pass surgery Friday. David and Karen Davis and family members were at the Baxter Hospital the day of Lynn’s surgery.
Mearl and Beulah Satterfield and I shopped in West Plains Friday.
A former Tecumseh resident, Ginger McGrane, passed away and her memorial service was Friday morning at Clinkingbeard in Gainesville. She and husband, Howard, who retired from a government job in Conn. and moved to MO. in the early 70′s, first bought a home on Smoky Road. Ginger had been a patient in Gainesville Healthcare for 7 years.
Richard and Rene Blackburn had their daughter and family over the weekend visiting from Harrisonville, MO. Four grandchildren were in the group.
Mearl and Beulah Satterfield had their daughter, Karen, and son-in-law, Doug Livingston and grandson, Austin, visiting them on Saturday. They raked leaves while there.
Best wishes to Tyler Pitcock in St. John’s Hospital as he had a second surgery Monday for an intestional obstruction.
The family of Bob Ellison has our sympathy in their loss.
We appreciate Jeri Miller for some nice eggs last Friday.
Prayers are for Jim Hyter who is a patient in Cox Hospital after a fall in his home and heart problems. Best wishes to him and his wife, Mildred. They had lunch with Joe and Ernestine Gaddy last week while they were in Springfield for a doctor visit.
Loretta Davidson goes next Monday for pre-op tests with her orthopedic doctor prior to another hip surgery to correct a faulty artificial hip replacement causing her problems. Best wishes. Happy Feb. 26th birthday to Katie Hoverson, on James Lane, near Dawt, and she is to be complimented on making the beautiful quilt for our Lilly Ridge Extension Club raffle. Tickets will be sold until Hootin’ An’ Hollarin’ time. The quilt will be on display in town by early summer.
Maxine Smith reported on the Women’s Day of Prayer last Saturday at Mammoth Church and said it was well attended and enjoyed by all.
Best wishes to Bob Bryant as he has his radiation treatments in Houston, TX. Mabel’s sister and her friend came after her last Tuesday, a week ago, and they visited several places around the area for the day.
Eastern Star Chapter 432, in Gainesville, has visitors coming from over the state, with Grand Officers in charge, for the Annual School of Instructions this Thursday, Feb. 24, with dinner at 2 p.m. and the meeting following.
