-15-11. Happy Valentine’s Day – a day late. I didn’t go anywhere yesterday or do anything special. Walt and I exchanged cards and he gave me a little box of chocolates. I gave him a shirt, but it didn’t fit so I gave it to my son-in-law for his birthday which is Feb. 20.
Man, what a winter we’ve had this year, but I know its been that way all around the nation. We got a seven inch snow and of course it blew and drifted and snowed us in. The last time we got almost seventeen inches and of course we were really snowed in then. I finally called the mail carrier and asked him to hold my mail because I couldn’t get up there to the mail box to get it and then the next day the landlord’s son got back from his vacation and came and plowed the lane. I was sure glad to hear him out there plowing. It was too cold to get out and walk to the mail box through the deep snow. That was more than 30 below zero then on Monday we went to Tipton and got some medicine I needed and some errands for me to run. I stopped in the clinic and told them about some problems I was having again and they made an appointment for me at a urology clinic in Davenport for the next day on Tuesday. The next morning when we started out it was minus 7 degrees. I don’t remember what the windchill was, but I know it was cold. Then on Friday we went to Illinois Quad Cities for Walt to do his monthly errands. He dropped me off at Wal-Mart again and I walked for three hours this time. Last month I walked two hours. I really enjoyed it. There’s something about walking that just gives me a boast. I didn’t see anybody I knew this time. Walt picked Rob up and they ran some errands together. They were even in Wal-Mart, but I didn’t see them. I did enjoy just taking my time and I think I looked at nearly everything in the store and ended up buying too much of it. On Saturday, Feb. 12 Lisa had a party for Jacob’s 18th birthday. There were a lot of people there and she had a variety of Happy Joe’s pizza. I ate a big piece of the BLT pizza and it was delicious and of course, a big birthday cake. I love birthday cake. We didn’t get to see Joe because he had to work, but his parents were there and we really like them a lot. They’re just especially nice people and they treat Lisa really good too. They bought Lisa and Joe a new dining room set for Christmas. They were all shopping at a Tanger Mall and Lisa saw a leather purse she liked then decided she didn’t need and put it back and Joe’s Mom bought it and gave it to here. Anita texted me last night and said Joe had given Lisa a ring and said he wanted to marry her. I am so happy for them. They bought Jacob a pickup for his birthday and he was really happy over that.
Well, we’re going to Muscatine today so I better quit this and get it ready to mail and get me ready to go. Our weather finally got up past freezing and melting all that snow and we have a muddy mess now. I wish everyone good health and happiness this new year. So bye, bye for now.
