Wednesday night Bible study we had a good lesson on “How To Withstand Temptation.” We went over the tools given to us to do so and our rewards for endurance. We only had ten people attend Bible study, but we had a great discussion.
Sunday morning we had twelve attend services. We started out by praising the Lord and by taking our prayer requests unto Him. After Sunday school the children sang for the congregation and then they had their penny march. We sang songs and enjoyed testimonies and our morning message was brought forth by Bro. Scott from Hosea 4:1-3. He brought to us a message concerning “The Christian attitude – the way the word is spread.” Christians should be spreading the word through how we carry out and conduct our lives. Through our attitudes we are a testimony on how good God is! We need to spread the word to others and not keep it within ourselves. Do we judge and condemn others because we think there is no hope for them? We have to have knowledge of God to instill truth and mercy within ourselves so that we may share it with all. Through the word we know there is mercy available for all. “Hear the word of the Lord, ye children of Israel: for the Lord hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land” (Hosea 4:1).
During evening services we had 17 attend. After prayer requests and songs, we had specials sung. Bro. Lyndon did a special reading of Psalms 100. Bro. Lyndon, Bro. Scott, Bro. Mike and Mr. Larry, and Sis. Aloma all sang. Bro. Scott delivered a powerful message from Hebrew 12:5-13, “God’s Loving Discipline.” We rarely associate love with discipline, (Hebrews 12:6) – “For whom the Lord lovesth He chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom He receiveth.” It can sometimes be hard to accept chastenings and our place of submission to God, but where would we be without His loving correction? Our Father has expectations of what He wants us to live up to, as with our fleshly fathers, and when we don’t live up to those expectations we deserve discipline. Without that discipline how could we know the true extent of His love and His will for us. “If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons, for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?” (Hebrews 12:7). If we don’t give the Lord His due reverence, when He pours down His wrath we could be caught up in it, or we can choose the way of sweet submission, and loving discipline!
We want to extend an invitation to all to join us for services. Our service times are Wednesday night Bible study at 7 p.m., Sunday school at 10 a.m., morning worship at 11 a.m. and evening worship at 7 p.m.
