Gentry Church wk. 22

Opening prayer for Sunday morning was by Joie Welker.

After congregational singing, our Sunday school lesson was “Jesus Came To Serve.” One of the churches’ goal is to serve one another and we cannot be true servants if we are competing with each other for power and popularity and this was what Jesus was teaching His disciples.

Happy birthday wishes went out to Colby Nicol and anniverary wishes went out to Rick and Donna Young.

A good crowd attended the Valentine Supper at Gentry Saturday night. Good games, fun and fellowship was had by all.

Many from Gentry Church attended the Third Friday Night Singing at Dogwood Nazarene Church. We enjoyed some good singing.

February 27 is the Fourth Sunday Singing at Gentry Church at 2 p.m.

Wednesday nights we are still having the series of “That The World May Know” and our study is on “Innocent Blood” with video at 7 p.m., choir practice at 6 p.m. Everyone is invited to join us.

Friday night, March 4 at 7 p.m. there will be a benefit singing for Rev. Bob Huskey at Goodhope General Baptist Church.

Our special song for the morning service was by the Gentry Men’s Quartet of Rod and Joie Welker, Narvil Tetrick and Wendell Deo.

Pastor Riley’s morning message was from Revelation 1:1-6 using verse 5 as text and also I Peter 1:18-19. What can wash away our sins, nothing but the blood of Jesus. With the precious blood of Christ as a lamb without blemish and without spot. We were born for need of redemption from Jesus. We can be saved from wrath by Him.

Our Sunday evening service started with congregational singing and some uplifting testimonies, our special song was by a small group made up of Joie and Rod Welker, Faye Allen, Wendell Deo, Charlotte Reich and Narvil Tetrick.

We extend a  nice welcome to our visitors, John Smith, Carol Gott and son, Brad.

Bro. Riley’s evening sermon was from II Corinthians 5:17. We become a new person when we have Christ in our lives, old things are passed away and all things become new. You will not be happy until you give your life to God because we are not our own.

God bless.
