Wednesday, February 16 – For the next several weeks we will be studying Peter (The Rock). His name at the beginning was Simon, son of Jonas. He was a native of Bethsaida, but later dwelt in Capernaum. His brother, Andrew introduced him to Jesus. Peter was an earnest man, self assertive, impulsive, but had the qualities of a leader. In listing the apostles his name is always first. He was a fisherman in partnership with Zebedee and his two sons, but with James and John he responded without hesitation, to the call of Jesus. We will learn in the coming weeks about Peter.
Sunday morning, Februray 20 – we had special prayer requests for Wayne and Donna Applequist, Bill and Bonnie Bolding, Don and Ruby G. , Neta Holt, Jerry Lansdown’s grandbaby, Phillip McFarlin, Marvin G., the unspoken, Norma, Charlie Lane, Ryan, the men and women in the military and Nicholas in Bahrain, in Persian Gulf.
Specials songs were by Lena, Linda R., Emma and Bevy.
The morning message was from Luke 18:18. Your passion is the driving force in your life, when you really enjoy doing a certain thing you will find or make time to do that, what about our time with the Lord?
A rich young ruler asked Jesus, “What shall I do to inherit eternal life?”
The do not’s were adultery, kill, steal, bear false witness, honor thy Father and mother.
He had done all this since his youth, Jesus said, ” See all, give it to the poor and follow me.” He was very sorrowful, for He was very rich. “Did he ever change his mind?” What is the driving force in your life?
In Acts 3, Peter and John at the temple, a man lame from birth, you know the story, ask alms of Peter and John.
They told him, silver and gold, I have not, but what I have, I give you in Jesus name.
Rise up and he leaped up and walked into the temple praising God.
A delicious meal was had by all after the morning service. We had delicious food and great fellowship at the third night singing at 6 p.m. We had great singers and songs by Bernie H., Norma, Dakota, Shantrelle, Emma and Teresa. I will call them our “Church of God Quartet.” Dakota and Gary had a duet. Betty H., Bevy and Gary also sang a special. We heard some beautiful music and songs from our visitors Sally Dickerson, Rita Scobba and I can’t remember the name of her instrument, but it was enjoyed by all. Also,we had Linda Prest.
Visitors are always welcome at the corner of N.W. 6th Ave. and 7th St. If you don’t have a home church, come join us. God is ever present and we let the holy spirit have his way.
