Ava FFA Members Win Area With Proficiency Awards

Four students competed in Area Competition with their Proficiency Awards on Feb. 16.

Proficiency awards are based on a member’s SAE, or Supervised Agriculture Experience, in areas of placement or entrepreneurship in a wide variety of categories.

In order to advance to state a student must win their proficiency category.

Results by Ava chapter members were:

• Courtney Levan placed first in Specialty Animal production entrepreneurship.

• Jordan Evans won small animal production entrepreneurship.

• Shady Flippo won both equine entrepreneurship and equine placement.

• James Elijah won Diversified Livestock Placement. He also placed second in beef placement, third in dairy production placement, and third in beef entrepreneurship.

A student can only compete at state in one event, so Shady will compete in Equine Entrepreneurship.

Results of state competition will be announced on stage at State FFA Convention April 14.
