Rome News wk. 21

At last the snow is almost gone and the weather is so much warmer. It stayed so bitter cold so long. It is a while before spring. We know we will have more winter weather yet. Every day will bring us closer to spring.

Sunday visitors were Tony Richards, Cody and Braxton Richards. Tony and Cody will return to their jobs this morning (Monday). They were off several days on account of the weather being so bad.

I had several phone calls during the bad weather.

Every one have a good week. Spring will soon be here then every one will feel better.

Not much news this week. We went out Friday to do some shopping and came back by Helen Dobbins for a while. She isn’t getting out yet, maybe by the time spring gets here, she will be able to get out. We went to Ava Saturday to watch Kailey Thompson play basketball while Kelly stayed with Kyle. His age group was in training at the small gym. I had a good visit with Lavonna Stafford Saturday. Cleo and Kailey are on the same team. Lavonna said her mother, Bonita Stafford, was in Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare Center now after spending several weeks in a Springfield hospital taking therapy after her car wreck. She’ll be in therapy yet for a while before she can go home. My grandson, Jason Maloney, got to go home Saturday after spending over a week in Cox Hospital. He had blood poisoning and nearly lost a leg. It was all because he got a splinter in his foot. We thank God for doctors and medicine.

The snow is almost gone, but the ice is still on Jim Bracken’s hill. The sun doesn’t shine on that curve and hill until it gets warmer then it is now.

It was warm enough today for Dick to get out and change the oil in the Durango. He was telling me how much longer it took to do it then it use to. He will be another year older tomorrow, Feb. 15.
