Faith Rock News wk. 21

Pastor Denny Dewitt brought a great message Sunday morning titled “Running From God.” His scripture was the story from Jonah 1 and Matthew 12:39-41 and II Kings 14:25. The scriptures were all pertaining to Jonah and what can happen when we run from God’s doing His will.

Bro. Bob Fleetwood taught on the Holy Spirit and ethics. Romans 8:13 “If ye live after the flesh ye shall die, but if ye through the spirtido mortify the deed of the body, ye shall live.”

We had two special songs, “It’s A Beautiful Morning” asnd it really was, with the snow melting and the sun shining through the windows. The other song was an old song we love, “In These Hills, God Walks With Me.” We love hearing Bro. and Sis. Dewitt play and sing as well as others that play and sing.

We were glad to have Sis. Mary Conrad and Ariel back after the sickness of the flu. Ariel and Albany always bless us with doing their memory verses so well and sometimes Ariel sings a special. Their teacher, Sis. Wanda Ray has also been sick with the flu, but everyone seems to be getting better and we just praise God for this beautiful week we were given. Sis. Shirley has also been sick, hopefully better by now.

I think most all of the kids were glad to get back in school this week, especially to see all their friends again.

I’m sorry we didn’t have church at Faith Rock Sunday before last, but the weather had predicted more snow that day and then it didn’t come that Sunday. Anyway, we didn’t have church and it was better for most of us to stay inside.

Sis. Loretta Dewitt preached Sunday night and what a sermon. She usually preaches on Sunday night and last week she titled her message, “Live By Faith Or Die By Doubt.” She’s quite an evangelistic preacher. She said we need to change our tongues from speaking negative to positive. The message came from James telling us that life or death is in the tongue. The scripture was also from Nubmers 13:27-33 and 14:1-12 and 39-45. This was the time Moses sent the spies out 40 days to check out the land before them and they all came back with an evil report except the two who said we are well able to take the land, but the people believed the evil report the other spies reported. We are still a lot like that today. We believe the obstacles in life are just too big, many times forgetting that we are well able with God’s help to do what is set before us to do. We are given the tools to do what we’re asked, but we need to walk by faith and not by sight, believing what God tells us in His word.

Sis. Betty and Darrell Hesterlee visited Sis. Norma last week at the Mountain Grove nursing home. She was doing pretty well and so wants to come home, but needs the dialysis treatments she gets at Mtn. Grove. Continue to pray also for the Heinleins. We were also asked to pray for Jr. Peak in the Ava nursing hime, who isn’t doing very well.

We will be quilting at Faith Rock today and enjoying a beautiful sunny day. We are all looking forward to being out this week and enjoying a very nice week. We are in need of flat sheets if anyone has some to sell us.

They need to be large and in good condition. We also have quilts to give away if someone out there is in need of them. We appreciate the ones who have kept us in material and sheets in the past, we appreciate it.
