All Around Bradleyville wk. 21

Has everyone got their bluebird houses cleaned out and ready for occupants? I read the other day that the bluebirds would start checking out housing in late February or early March, and start nesting in March.

I love bluebirds and need to get busy and make a few more houses. I only have one house that my granddaughter Courtney made. A few years ago all my grandkids were at my house and they got bored and wanted something to do, so they each made a birdhouse with my help. Courtney wanted to leave her birdhouse here at my house so we put it on a tree in the front yard. It has had bluebirds in it each year since. Last year after the bluebirds were through with it the morning glories grew around it and made a pretty picture opportunity.

Bradleyville Homecoming was held last Saturday with games with Koshkonong and crowning of the Homecoming Queen after the game. Congratulations to Aubrey Rogers who was crowned Homecoming Queen. All the girls looked so pretty in their formals.

Basketball for this week is at New Covenant School in Springfield for the Mark Twain Conference Tournament. The next two weeks will be extremely busy with rescheduled ballgames that have to be played before districts begin at the end of the month.

I attended the Sip and See for Ellie Easley, the month old daughter of Nathan and Heidi Easley last Sunday afternoon. Ellie is an adorable baby with beautiful blue eyes who took all the oohing and aaahhing in stride with lots of yawns and then a little nap while we enjoyed looking at all the pretty new clothes and other items she received. The cake made by Sue Deroo was beautiful and also delicious.

While at the shower I had the pleasure of meeting Heidi’s mother and sisters who were here from Michigan, and Truman and Mary McKillup who live near David and Joy Easley. Truman and Mary spend part of the year here and part of the year in North Carolina where they are from. Mary was telling me of a book she had written. She said it was displayed at the Getaway gift shop in Bradleyville so I am going to have to stop in there and buy it when it opens again in March. She has plans for several more books in the future that tie in with the first one.

The Valentine Party held at New Mansion Church Sunday night was well attended. Everyone enjoyed hamburgers, fries, side dishes and lots and lots of delicious desserts, along with some good fellowship.
