Two Basketball Records Fall; Recognition Given Monday Night

Monday night at halftime of the Ava-Cabool boys’ basketball game, recognition was given for two career records that have fallen this season.
Recognized were 1960 Ava High School graduate David Norman who has, for the past 51 years, held the career scoring mark at Ava High School, at 1,411 points.
Also, Brad Pellham, 1989 graduate, has held the 3-point shots career mark at 122.
Both Norman and Pellham were presented commemorative basketballs by Athletic Director Rex Sawyer. The balls were each signed by 2011 basketball team members.
Earlier this year, Norman’s career scoring mark was shattered by senior Pete Leonard who, at the time of the presentation, had amassed 1,577 points.
Also recognized was senior Trae Shelton who surpassed Pellham’s 3-point shot record at Willow Springs when he sank his 123rd 3-point basket. At the time of the presentation Monday night, Shelton had made 126 3-point shots.
Shelton and Leonard were also presented autographed basketballs.
