Sandy Church News wk. 20

We read our devotional from Luke 3 followed by singing led by Stan Humbyrd with LeaAnn Crum at the piano.

Doyle Humbyrd gave a tribute to Eddie Turner, whose funeral was on Saturday at Clinkingbeard’s chapel with Pastor Neal, Randy Dalton and Frances Humbyrd doing the service.  He was buried in Fannon Cemetery on Highway 5 then the church provided a luncheon at the Squires firehouse.  Eddie was so faithful and enjoyed coming to church as long as he was able.  He was a friend to all and we will surely miss him.

Prayer requests were shared for his family, Mac Mitchell, Makinna Humbyrd, Jerry Pitts, Jeff and Janet Dalton.  Stan Humbyrd prayed this prayer.

Happy birthday was sung to Abigail Dalton, who was three years old, and Frances Humbyrd who had a few more years than that.

Testimonies, praises and more requests were shared.  Pastor Neal said, “Keep your eyes on the Middle East and Jerusalem.  The Lord will see his word performed”.  He read from Luke 2 where Simeon, a just and devout man, waited for the consolation of Israel, because he knew he had seen the Lord’s Christ.  He took him in his arms and blessed God.

We were dismissed in prayer by Aaron Dalton after prayer time at the altar.

At 6 p.m., Pastor Neal began with prayer followed by congregational singing of several songs.

Elane Crum shared about her friend, Al, the piano man, and his wife’s mission trip.  They reported a blessed time.  Other testimonies were also shared.

Pastor Neal read from Luke 2:36 where Anna, a prophetess, served God in the temple with prayer and fasting night and day.  She gave thanks unto the Lord and spoke of him to all those that looked for redemption in Jerusalem.  We were dismissed with prayer by Brad Siler.

Sunday, February 13, will be our monthly fellowship dinner for all birthdays and anniversaries in the month.  For all you men, Monday is Valentine’s Day.

Every Tuesday at 7 p.m. is special prayer meeting and every Wednesday at 7 p.m. is Bible Study in the book of Genesis.

We are glad for our visitors.  Come and be with us.  You are always welcome in our Lord’s house.

After church, we received a prayer chain call that Makinna Humbyrd was going to the Emergency Room where she was given an IV to hydrate her.  I am happy to report she is much better now.  We appreciate the prayers.
