A small but determined group of worshippers gathered at St. Francis on Sunday, Feb. 5 in spite of the snow and ice. I appreciate the Connell family for giving me a ride in their four-wheel drive since I would not have been able to go otherwise.
Feb. 5 was the fifth Sunday after epiphany and Fr. Glen based his sermon on the epistle reading for the day, Colossians 3:12. Fr. Glen told us that this passage continues the epiphany theme of the showing forth of Jesus, but moves from the person of Jesus to the community of Christians and our duty to show forth the teachings of Jesus to the world as St. Paul instructs the Colossians in how to live a Christian life distinct from the world around us.
Evening prayer and Bible study were cancelled last Wednesday and we may or may not be able to meet this week, depending on the weather.
We had a nice letter from Jennifer Berthold saying that she is settling into life as a student at the College of the Ozarks and we wish her the best in her college career.
Everyone is welcome at St. Francis Anglican (Traditional Episcopal) Church where Fr. Glen Hartley holds services Sundays at 10:30 a.m. and Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. Visit our website at stfrancisavamo.org.
