Ava Community Playground News wk. 19

2011 is shaping up to be a great year, and we’re especially excited about all the great things coming up for the Ava Community Playground.
A group of our volunteers braved the cold January weather and set up a table in front of the Ava Walmart. We had a chance to speak with hundreds of nice people about the playground. This event was hugely successful and we are excited to see the progress we’re making towards reaching our goal.
Students from Ava Elementary and Plainview schools sold over 120+ boards for the Buy-A-Board Challenge in the month of January! The winning class for the month of January will be announced after a final count is tallied and they will receive a prize.
It was mentioned that although the playground is going to be located on property made available to us from Missouri Ozarks Community Health, MOCH is not directly involved with the fundraising for the playground; we are a separate entity.  We are committed to building an exciting new venue for childhood entertainment, exercise and education right here in Ava. Our organization is formed exclusively of volunteers. Therefore, 100 percent of all fundraising dollars goes directly toward the playground project.
Our Volunteer Committee is reviewing the list of hundreds of people who have already signed up to volunteer and tasks will be assigned as the weeks progress.  If you can help us with our fundraising, or if you can help with anything during our build week this fall, such as being a member of the build crew, assisting with food preparation, or childcare, we are always looking for volunteers–no experience necessary. If you want to be a part of this momentous event and haven’t registered already, please contact Jessica Jenkins @ 417-343-5703 or for general questions about the organization check out our website at www.avaplayground.com.
