Rome wk. 18

Plainview School got in one evening of basketball games this week on Tuesday night. They will be making up the Thursday evening games later. They won all their games. The snow came in Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.
Dick got ready to take DeAnn Thompson in to work Thursday morning, but before he got to her house Dr. Dugan had called and told her not to come in, but he took her in Friday. Kelly was out of town and she was afraid to drive on the roads. We still have snow on the shady roads out here. I’m sure all the children had fun playing in the snow.
There is still lots of sickness going around.
Cary Woodall and Lidy Collins were married Saturday, January 22 at the Goodhope General Baptist Church. Lots of relatives and friends came out to witness the event. Pastor Mike Freeman performed the beautiful ceremony. It was good to visit with Mike and Wendy. Wendy filled me in on their children. Cody was about four or five when Mike pastored Goodhope General Baptist Church. Time passes so fast. We were pleased to have Chris Gassik bring the message at Goodhope General Baptist Church for Sunday evening youth services. Chris is another one we have seen grow, both in age and spiritual.
Almost all the snow has melted, but it stays so cold. Each day is closer to spring. January is a short month.
Tony picked up my medicine in Ava for me. I don’t get out in the bad weather.
Cody Richards and Charlie Hampton were here one evening. They tried their luck at gigging suckers.
I had a letter from my cousin Richard L. Grant of Columbia, Missouri, telling me of the death of my cousin, Verna Bricker. She spent Thanksgiving day with his family and had a bad stroke the next day and passed away. She was 100 years old. She also witnessed the bombing of Pearl Harbor as she was working there at the time.
My sympathy to all that have lost a loved one.
God bless America.
