The Ava Community Playground Core Committee met last Thursday evening at the Life Church for our regular weekly meeting. Some of the core members were unable to attend due to the snow we received that day, but overall we had a good meeting and covered a large amount of information and upcoming events for our playground project.
It was mentioned that although the playground is going to be located on property made available to us from Missouri Ozarks Community Health, MOCH is not directly involved with the fundraising for the playground; we are a separate entity. We are committed to building an exciting new venue for childhood entertainment, exercise and education right here in Ava. Our organization is formed exclusively of volunteers. Therefore, 100 percent of all fundraising dollars go directly toward the playground project.
Core members discussed the sponsorship packets that will be sent to businesses throughout the region giving them the opportunity to be an integral part of this once in a lifetime event. These packets will be ready to be mailed out within the next couple of weeks and hopefully the donations will start rolling in.
Volunteers were once again in front of Ava Wal-Mart on Saturday 1-22. We had a huge bake sale. This event was hugely successful and we are excited to see the progress we’re making towards reaching our goal.
Our Volunteer Committee is reviewing the list of hundreds of people who have already signed up to volunteer and tasks will be assigned as the weeks progress. If you can help with anything during our build week this fall, such as being a member of the build crew, assisting with food preparation, or child care, we are always looking for volunteers–no experience necessary.
