Rome News wk. 17

Last weeks news – While Dick and I were in town last week, we rain into Randy Jenkins and Susan. We visited with them while having lunch. They had returned from Nebraska Sunday evening. Susan has folks out there. After that we all visited with Peggy in the nursing home. She was feeling much better. We stopped at Helen’s on our way home.
Tuesday, January 4th, Plainview 3rd and 4th grade girls, 5th and 6th grade girls and 3rd and 4th grade boys all three won basketball games. I don’t remember the ending scores.
Ray Cunningham stopped by the Richards’ home one afternoon last week. He brought us a pumpkin bread mix. I guess I’ll have to invite him and Fran over when I get it baked.
I sure hope that winter storm doesn’t come in next week that the weatherman is talking about.
This weeks news – Sunday after church the Thompsons, Brandon Woodall and Autumn Groth, Dick and I all went to McDonalds for lunch. Bob and Ella Mae Huskey came in while we were there so they sat with us. It was good to see them. Bob told us he has 14 more treatments to take. He looks good, cancer has not kept him down. They had been in Oklahoma last week for a funeral. We at the Goodhope General Baptist Church appreciate David Welch very much for filling in as our pastor. He not only is a good preacher, but he is also a fine young man. He also has a sweet wife, Suzanne and daughter, Kayla. We did have some bad weather last week. It got ten below down here in the holler one night.
Kinsey and Kailey Thompson have both been sick. I think the kids at school pass the bug around. They were okay for school this morning.
The nights have been so cold down where I live. I can tell that the days are getting a little longer. Spring isn’t to far away. It is one of my favorite times. When the leaves begin to bud out and the grass greens up.
I had a call from my brother in Texas yesterday. He said it was forty-seven degrees down there. That was in the morning also.
Tony Richards and Charley Hampton were here one afternoon.
Cody Richards and Braxton came Saturday afternoon for a while. They took a ride on the four-wheeler while here.
They also visited with Tony and Lisa Richards and Charley Hampton.
My sympathy to all that have lost a loved one.
