Presiding Commissioner Larry Pueppke announced last week that he will appoint Bill Philpott as director of the Douglas County Emergency Management Agency (EMA).
The appointment comes after retiring Presiding Commissioner Butch Linder, on his last day in office (Dec. 31), removed appointments he had made, including that of Ron Tost as EMA director.
Philpott, who lives in Ava, has a background in law enforcement and currently serves on the Ava R-1 Board of Education.
Pueppke indicated Philpott will be assisted in his duties by Bill Long and Richard Sturgeon.
Philpott’s official appointment is expected to come soon.
