Historical Society Met Jan. 17

The Douglas County Historical Society held its monthly meeting on Jan. 17. President Pat Carmichael called the meeting to order.

Sharon read the treasurer’s report and the minutes of the November meeting, and both were approved. There was no report on the December meeting since that was a Christmas Party.

At Monday’s meeting there was a discussion of the new display built by Andrew Harden and  the new display donated by the Howard McGill family.  Both are quite impressive.

Members also discussed the Museum page that is on Facebook and what else is needed to be added to it.  There was also a discussion of the great non-profit website and the society’s standing with them, and with a little luck maybe the society will get financial support through it.

The Historical Society is hoping to find enough support to have the museum open more days a week, so keep you fingers crossed.

After a discussion of what upkeep is needed and what displays will be changed, a motion was made by Joe and seconded by Ann to adjourn.  See you at the next meeting Feb. 21.
