Evelyn Evans is our community reporter for an area south of Ava called Frye – Foil. This neighborhood is just south of Squires on JJ Highway.
Evelyn and husband Carl settled in Douglas County over 35 years ago. As a couple, retiring after 20 years of service in the Navy, the two started life anew on a farm outside of Ava.
In past years, Evelyn says she spent time square dancing, fishing and auctions, but now she prefers focusing on the grandchildren and spending time with family. The mother of three grown sons, Ken, Roger and Randy, Evelyn enjoys making quilts and baking cookies for her family.
Evelyn has been writing local news items for the Douglas County Herald for four years.
