Members of the Ava High School graduating class of 1953 met in the home of Charles and Evelyn Cantwell for a late Christmas gathering on Saturday, Jan. 15.
The gathering started around 12 noon, and by 4 o’clock a wonderful meal was enjoyed with contributions from everyone attending. The menu consisted of brisket, turkey and dressing, scalloped potatoes, cream cheese corn, salad, a pot of ham and beans and red onion, homemade rolls, cornbread, and desserts of blackberry and peach cobbler and ice cream, coconut cream pie, and a special chocolate cake decorated for the Class of ’53.
We had a really good time of catching up, and watching ball games (and not just the guys). Our time of fellowship was enjoyed by everyone, which included: Iris Ann (Day) and Chester Jenkins; Ray and Alice Ann Brown; Loren and Delvetta Haden; Violet (Campbell) Sell; Lavon (Woolsey) Carter; Ruth (Willis) Thompson; Juanita Herrell; Franklin Mackey; and host and hostess, Evelyn (Singleton) and Charles Cantwell.
The Class of ’53 hopes to have another gathering this summer.

Looks like a fun time. I look forward to seeing many of you at the annual picnic in Springfield next summer.
