Lion Richard Sturgeon attended Hobo Days last Saturday and told the Lions, at Monday evening’s meeting, what a good time he had. Hobo Days was held in Hollister. Richard traveled with Mtn. Grove Lion President Ken Lewis and his wife, Alice, to Hollister, where they spent most of the day.
The newly formed Leo club had their first meeting last Saturday. They have already started their first community service which is “Valentines for Vets” for World War II veterans in Ava. They are filling shoe boxes with gifts such as small toiletries, socks, candy, etc. The Leos are a little short on shoe boxes and gifts. If anyone would like to donate a small gift, or even a shoebox, they can be dropped off at Sandy Hylton’s office, A-One Insurance, on N. Jefferson. A fundraiser planned for the Leo club is to “adopt” two miles of a highway and clean up the litter that accumulates. They would love to have more members and information can be found on Facebook, or call 265-3504.
