Sunday, January 2 was the second Sunday after Christmas Day. After a Sunday of red for St. Stephen’s Day, altar cloths and vestments are white for Christmas. Fr. Glen based his sermon on the reading for the epistle, Isaiah 61, in which the prophet tells the Hebrews that God has anointed him to preach healing and comfort to them upon their return from exile in Babylon.
Once again we have been saddened by the death of a long time member, Jim Woods, who died December 23 in a fire in his house in Clarkridge, Arkansas. Funeral services were held on January 3 in Mtn. Home. Jim was very dedicated to St. Francis and will be missed.
Also on January 3 Jennifer Berthold left to begin her college education at College of the Ozarks. We will miss Jennifer in church, but wish her success in her college career.
Our organist, Kip Smith, has completed his installation of a new set of chimes on our organ just in time for the Christmas season and we are enjoying the wonderful sound of chimes in our services. We are grateful to Kip for his dedication.
Everyone is welcome at St. Francis Anglican (Traditional Episcopal) Church where Fr. Glen Hartley holds services Sundays at 10:30 a.m. and Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m.
