Last Weeks News – We stood to read our devotional from John 4 as we began our Sunday school. Prayer requests were given. Among those were Joe Mason, Donna Dale, Tammy Call, our soldiers away from home this Christmas and the names in our book on the altar. Peggy Miller led us in this prayer.
We sang happy birthday to Peggy Miller. She is a great lady. We are so glad to have her in our church family.
Our deacons received our Lord’s tithes and offerings. Stan Humbyrd led the congregation in Christmas songs with LeaAnn Crum playing the piano between Sunday school and worship time.
Testimonies were shared about our Great God. Brother Van Menzies was our speaker. He said, “Today we will celebrate Jesus; who is he to you?” He read from Matthew 1, Luke 2 and John 1.
After church, fruit baskets were given to Pastor Neal and LeaAnn, our deacons, Sunday school teachers, all senior citizens and other officers in our church family. A sack of treats was given to each person and the children received a gift from their prayer partners.
Several had lunch in the fellowship hall and went caroling to shut-ins in the area.
At 6 p.m., we had a visiting missionary from Honduras, Robin Shoulders, who after teaching for 32 years in Clay, Kentucky, became the Superintendent of the Little Angels School at Faith Home. It was so good to see the ministry there. Let us always remember to pray for them.
Tuesday at 7 p.m. is special prayer time. Wednesday at 7 p.m., we will meet at Sonya and Kevin Hodges home again this year for a Christmas party of fellowship, fun and food. Come and worship with us. You are always welcome in our Lord’s house.
We were thankful for our visitors because we were few in number. Some were sick and some were traveling. Prayer requests were for Carol Gott, Bonita Stafford, both are in Walnut Lawn after accidents, the Mark Degase family, a little one named Miracle, Cody Menzies and others. Doyle Humbyrd prayed this prayer.
Danny Johnson and Van Menzies received our Lord’s tithes and offerings. Danny prayed the offertory prayer. Danny also led us in Christmas songs between Sunday school and church.
Testimonies were shared. Jim Harris was proud to report that Colton, his son, led Kendra’s family in the blessing at their Christmas dinner.
Pastor Neal said, “Don’t let this be the only time we celebrate Christ. May we celebrate HIM each day”. He prayed and read from Luke 1. The angel, Gabriel, talked with Mary about a baby boy to be born and his greatness. She shall call his name Jesus. Mary said, “Be it unto me according to thy word”.
At 6 p.m., Pastor Neal prayed and read from Ezra 8 and Daniel 1 and 10. He called for a Daniel Fast of 21 days. We are to determine with God what He would have us to do. We had a special prayer time for many in our church family and others who are sick. The church will be opened and warm on New Year’s Eve for those who wish to come and pray. Come and worship with us. You are always welcome.
