Linder Removes Appointments

Douglas County government is seeing more than the typical changes that come with Jan. 1 after an election year.

Before Presiding Commissioner Butch Linder’s last day in office (Dec. 31), he removed the three appointments he had made in his position.

Those appointments were Ron Tost as emergency management director and Teresa Tost and Karen Bates-Crouch from the Law Enforcement Restitution Fund board.

The restitution board consists of five members – two appointed by the presiding commissioner, two by the sheriff and one by the coroner.

“I wiped the slate clean so the new presiding commissioner could decide who to have in those positions,” Linder said.

The new presiding commissioner, Larry Pueppke, said he is likely to appoint someone to those positions in the next few weeks.

Until then, by state law, Pueppke will be the acting emergency management director.
