Highlonesome wk. 15

Strange weather conditions hit hard on New Year’s Eve day. Your heart goes out seeing all the loss of homes and etc. It was getting close around here.
Rex and Shirley Halcomb visited us New Years Eve that evening and brought us an anniversary card and gift. We had a good visit.
I talked to Fae Pruett. She has had a lot of company, but still needs prayer.
I talked to Gracie Williams and her family from Oklahoma didn’t get to come in for Christmas. She had a good holiday anyway. She and daughter, Cindy, visited Carroll and Shirley Caudill recently.
Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Maggard and daughter, Valerie Austin and Casey ate dinner with Ervin’s mother, Iona Maggard.
Mt. Olive/Highlonesome Church will have their monthly singing January 22 and every fourth Saturday night of each month. Everyone is welcome. We also welcome you to their services – Sunday school starting at 10 a.m., church services at 11 a.m., Sunday night at 6:30 p.m. and Wednesday night Bible study at 6:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to come to any of the services. Keith Lafferty is the pastor.
Phyllis and Tom Pettit received word of the death of their niece, the former Connie Aday. She is Phyllis’s sister, Fredia (Shortt) Aday’s daughter. Connie has a brother, Steve.
Junior Halcomb visited us New Year’s Day. We were walking on New Year’s Eve and he and Betty came and we missed them. Rex Halcomb visited at Junior and Betty’s.
My how God did bless us Sunday. We had a very good service. We give God the credit. He holds everything in His hands. All you praying people please pray for Cardwell Missionary Baptist Church. Pray that God will send sinners our way to be saved. That is what its all about. We will be starting out the new year with Sunday school next Sunday at 10 a.m., preaching service with special singing at 11 a.m. and maybe later Sunday night services in the near future. Rev. James Orick is preaching at 11 a.m.
Happy birthday to Jim Nelson as his family gets together on New Year’s Eve to celebrate. His birthday is on New Year’s Day. Also to J.D. Morrison – I remembered after the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th time you told me.
Bill and Daisey Nelson recently visited her mother and family in California.
I did not hear of any New Year’s Eve watches around close to attend. Rex and Shirley came and we had a quiet anniversary at home.
It sure was cold when we opened the north door when they left. Amazing how our Missouri weather changes.
I told a person why can’t people be good to one another, it takes as much effort to be good as bad. The person told me I think it takes more effort to be good. That is something to think about. We all should start the New Year with trying to be a better servant for God. We can’t do enough. He holds everything in the palm of His hands and thank Him for His protection from the storm.
