Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare – wk. 13

Hello from our home to your home, the holiday season is now in full swing.   Santa Claus has been here a couple of times already, but the real Santa is scheduled to visit Thursday, December 23rd at 2:30 p.m.
Girdner Church and Redbank Church were here on the 5th.  Larry Moore’s Sunday school class started at 9:30 a.m.    The Nimble Thimble Quilting Club was here on the 6th with several ladies quilting.
Evelyn Harper was here Tuesday afternoon calling games.   Jeff Smith from Three Rivers Hospice was here for Memory Lane.   Jeff brought his wife Jessica with him, and all the residents enjoyed
visiting with her.  Residents enjoyed a trip to the Ava Art Guild. The ladies were very good to our residents.  Residents going on the outing were Lena Carline, Maxine Lirley, Norma Kennedy, Jean Morrissey and Peggy Jenkins.   The Art Guild presented the ladies with a very nice gift.   Ava Victory Academy children enjoyed singing Christmas carols to our residents and quoting their favorite Bible verses.
The Birthday Party was on the 8th with the Birthday Band playing.   Roy and Pauline Murrill, Joan Lawrence and Sonja Howerton.   Cakes were baked by the First Southern Baptist Church.   We appreciate all the ladies
who helped served the cake and ice cream.   Birthday wishes were sang to Ruth Hall, Wanda Silvey, Murrell Alms and Billie Leonard. Ava Full Gospel Youth Group was here in the evening and everyone had a good time.  Ava Head Start visited residents and students enjoyed hot buttered popcorn and punch while they watched Frosty the Snowman.   Mrs. Hart, Mrs. Lyn, Mrs. Kim and Candace enjoyed all of the different Christmas trees.
On Friday Karen Sellers brought treats with her to pass out after the ladies got their nails done.  The 1st Sonshine Group was here with a large group of musicians and everyone had a good time.  Norma Stillings played the piano Saturday morning, followed by Saturday Church with Bro. Tom Hawkins.
Gentry Church was here on Sunday afternoon.  Darlene Sorenson called games Wednesday afternoon.  The Cooking Club made Carmel Popcorn Balls. The Ava United Methodist Frogs Club visited us and brought all the residents ornaments and candy.  We appreciate Tina Simmons for
helping out with the Frogs Club. Karen Seller was here for nails and brought beautiful bookmarks she had made.   The 1st Sonshine Group was here and everyone had a good time.   Norma Stillings played the piano followed by Saturday Church.   The Patriotic Riders were here visiting with the veterans and other residents.    Faith Rock Church was here on Sunday afternoon with a good service time. Sis. Betty Hesterlee brought the message.   Hospice Compassus was here on Monday morning, bringing Santa Claus and Yorik the Reindeer with him. He visited with everyone and had a Ho-Ho-Ho time.
Monday afternoon Maxine Lirley, Willene Adams and Laura Lansdown went to Redbud Village and played games.   After they left Redbud they went to Sonic and got treats then went on a country van ride down west 76 and coming out on new five highway by Black Oak Church.
Tuesday morning the dietary prepared a dinner fit for a king, they served sliced ham, stuffing, sweet potatoes, green beans and hot homemade rolls, followed by your choice of pie.   We appreciate the dietary staff for all the extra work and love they put into the meal.   Pies were served up by Colleen Lakey and Ruth Evans.  We are so grateful for our volunteers who are always ready to help our home out.  We served around two hundred and fifty dinners.   It is always a good time visiting with family members.
The Church schedule for the coming year is Jan. 2nd – 1st Southern Baptist, Jan. 9th – Ava United Methodist, Jan. 16th -  Mound Church. Jan. 23rd -  Ava General Baptist, and Jan. 30th -  Goodhope Nazarene Church.  If you have any questions please call Connie at 683-4129.
Our  prayers and sympathy are with the families of Neva Shelton, Mary Alice Emerson, Basil Lakey, Zora Fitzgerald, Wanda Jean Teeple and Janice Grooms.
We would like to welcome new residents to our home they are Bertha Matthijetz, Dora McBrayer, Harold Bock, Vernon Robertson, Shirley Hancock, Robert Farbin, Lula Everett and Wanda King.
