Eastern Gate and Around THe Mountain wk. 16

My how time does get away from me. I had ever intention of getting my news in last week and the first thing I knew it was too late. Life can be that way also, we can have good intentions of getting ready to make things right with God before it’s too late, but we never know when that will be. Make this year, this week the time you have a talk with God and get your heart right.
Our church didn’t plan anything for the New Year’s Eve night celebration. At the last minute several people decided that they wanted to get together. Jackie Nelson told me that they had Jon Mitchell come and preach for them and they had some singing and lots of good food and visiting. That’s the best way to welcome in the New Year. I had two wisdom teeth removed the day before, so I spent the evening sleeping.
Sunday night Donald preached about tithing, now I know this is a subject not too many people like to hear about. Did you know God also wants 10 percent of your time. Wow! That’s two hours and 40 minutes a day talking, thinking and praying to God. In reality that’s not much to ask for, but when you start tying to spend that much of your day for God you will realize how much you will be blessed for it. This week Donald was preaching about verses of chapter 3 verse 16 of any book in the Bible and how they all tie in together. John 3:16 was where he started and challenged us to go find all of the rest of them for ourselves. (He did give us a few more examples). Try it yourself. Next week he will be preaching in Oklahoma so keep him in your prayers. We sang happy birthday to Jon Mitchell today. Jon sang a special as did the youth and Jon’s kids, Grace and Evan. We had Joey, Melissa and Tessa come to church this morning it was good to see them.
We sure miss Bud and Francis since she works on Sunday a lot now. Virginia Hampton said she fixed supper for Bud and Francis one night this week. Jackie Nelson said her family was together and went out to eat for Sim’s birthday. She also said that she had taken Jane out to eat. We sure miss Jane around here. We got a Christmas card for the church from her. Roger and I ran into Esther and her daughter and she said Jane is always on the go and doing fine.
I got a call Friday night from Dana Lafferty that Jaki was in the hospital. Roger and I went up to see her, a little while after we got there the doctor came in to tell them she could go home, which was great news. Thursday night we went to Skyline to watch Courtney’s first basketball game it was fun to watch her play and she even made two points. Last Saturday night we kept little Alexis all night and this Saturday we went to her birthday party. It’s hard to believe she’s already one year old, another reminder how times flies by. We stopped by the nursing home and saw mom and Bob and Angie. Mom said she’s been a little sick, but apparently so has everyone else at the home. Germs just like to spread around. I forgot to tell you Roger got his Christmas wish I can finally talk; I hope he doesn’t take his wish back now.
I didn’t make a new year’s resolutions so here goes, mine is for me (and for you) to slow down this year and find time to enjoy this wonderful world and the good friends that God has given to each and every one of us. Take care and God bless.
