Henry “Harry” Gorden Sherrill, 97

Henry “Harry” Gorden Sherrill, 97 years, 5 months, and 21 days old, passed away on Dec. 24, 2010 at Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare, Ava, Mo.

Harry was born July 3, 1913 in Hilo, Mo., to Benjamin and Nancy (Robertson) Sherrill.

He was a farmer and lived most of his life in the Douglas County community. He worked for 15 years with the Springfield Stockyards in Springfield, Mo.

Harry was married to Ruby Durham and to this union two children were born. Ruby preceded him in death in 1963.

On Jan. 9, 1964, Harry and Bonnie Lucy Long were united in marriage in Ozark County, Mo.

Harry attended the Murray Church. He enjoyed working on the farm and his pastime was cutting firewood.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Ruby; four brothers, John, Eddie, Jessie and Jim Sherrill; four sisters, Bessie Bell, Ada Friend, Zora Anderson and Lizzie Bozarth.

Harry is survived by his wife, Bonnie Sherrill, Ava, Mo.; one son, Gordon Sherrill and wife, Carolyn, Almartha, Mo.; one daughter, Wilda Lou Walls and husband, Willie, Roy, Wash.; two step-daughters, Doris Searcy and husband, Fred, Ava, Mo., and Avis Miller and husband, Eddie, Gainesville, Mo.; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Harry were Wednesday, Dec. 29, at 10 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, Mo., with burial in the Murray Cemetery. Visitation was Wednesday, from 9 a.m. to service time in the funeral home. Officiating was the Rev. Junior Hall.
