The 4th Sunday Singing was held at Faith Rock Church November 28, 2010 from 2-4 p.m. The welcome was given by emcee, Sybil Gheer; Sis. Betty Hesterlee opened with prayer; song books were distributed by Freeman Porter. There were 45 present and 33 songs were shared.
Sybil Gheer conducted the business meeting and the next Fourth Sunday Singing will be held at Gentry Church, January 23. It was unanimously voted to keep the same officers for 2011: Sybil Gheer as president, Norva Strong as secretary, and Freeman Porter as keeper of the song books.
Special music presented: solo’s: Bob Huskey, Lola Mayberry; duet’s: Janice Young and Norvell Tetrick, Frieda Thurman and Marvin Loftin; trio’s: Heritage Singers: Edgar Stewart, Jerry and Jena Moyer, accompanied by Bob Huskey; Lee and Wilma Hampton, and Marvin Loftin; a Ladies Quartet; church groups from: Breedon, Faith Rock, Gentry, and the final special was provided by the preachers.
We certainly missed the Lafferty family, as Bro. Joe was in the hospital, but is now home recuperating.
Participating instrumentalists include: Piano: Sybil Gheer, Joan Pond, Lola Mayberry, Joann Welker, Charlene Willis, Jena Moyer; Guitar: Eli David, Bob Huskey, Lola Mayberry; Bass Guitar: Jerry Moyer; Harmonica: Sybil Gheer, Banjo: Joan Pond; Mandolin: Ross Martin; Organist: Carlene Willis..The following churches were recognized: Ava Assembly of God, Ava General Baptist, Breedon, Clark, Denlow, Dogwood Nazarene, Faith Rock, Gentry, Girdner, Life, Longrun, Mt. Calvary, Oak Grove.
