Caney Church News

November 24 – We met at Caney the night before Thanksgiving. Service began with singing. Bro. Jim Lafferty took charge of the service. Prayer request and praise reports were given. Sis. Charlotte Roberts led in prayer. Jim read Psalms 1, Matthew 7:13-14, 21-23 and Revelations 2:10. There is no consolation prize was his thought. There is one way and only one way to get to heaven. There is two ways to go up or down, you make the choice now. No do overs and no consolation prize. A very serious thought.
November 28 – Sunday school opened with singing. Bro. Jack Essary welcomed everyone. Prayer requests were received. Sis. Lorraine Mitchell led in prayer. Jack read I John 3:18-24 for our devotion.
Praise and Worship began with singing. Testimonies were given by Jeff Shipley, Bill Austin, Lorraine Mitchell, Elsie Combs, Melba Austin, Charlotte Roberts and Jim Lafferty.
Those singing specials were Charlotte Roberts, Melba Austin, Jim Lafferty, Melissa Harmon and Laurena Mitchell.
Pastor Bill spoke from II Kings 13:20-21. Elisha’s words were true. He tried to give people hope. God’s word is true. We can have hope if we’ll only receive it. Are you offering hope to others around you. There is power in Christ.
Sunday evening Caney Church came to praise the Lord. We then had congregational singing. Bro. Jeff Shipley welcomed all to service. Bro. Jack Essary led in prayer. Testimonies were given by Charlotte Roberts, Jack Essary and Bill Austin. Bro. Jim Lafferty was our speaker Sunday night. He brought his message from II Chronicles 7:14 and Ezra 9:5-9. We need to stand for Christ, we cannot straddle the fence. We need to admit our faults and failures them repent and do better. We need reviving, let’s pray for revival. Service ended with singing.
