In local district competition, Emily Tredway (far left), of Ava Victory Academy, received first place in the VFW Voice of Democracy Essay Contest. Lauren Cassell (second from left) received second place, and Abby Hailey (center) received fourth place. Kaylor Walker (second from right) received first place in the Patriot's Pen Contest and Rachel Veenstra (far right) received fourth place. Ava Victory Academy's English teacher, Mrs. Miller, won the National Citizenship Education Teacher of the Year Award.
