Ava Place

Deer season is almost over just in time for Thanksgiving and the predicted snow. Our maintenance director has not gotten his trophy buck and has now decided that something smaller might be okay for venison. We wish him luck in hunting the remainder of the season.
Things have changed from times of old. When driving the country roads you see deer camps that are compromised of campers, four wheelers, gators, tents, garage type tents, cooking supplies and whatever else one can think of to make the hunting experience comfortable. I can remember when you went to your families or a friend’s house, walked to the deer woods and returned at dusk. If you got a deer you dragged it out of the woods, dressed it yourself and took it home. You then processed the deer at home. It seems today the slaughter house does the processing into things like deer summer sausage, pepperoni sticks and more. I wonder what our forefathers would think of that.
We are looking forward to celebrating Thanksgiving with a luncheon for the residents, their families and the employees. We have a feast planned and our cooks are great.
The day after Thanksgiving we start decorating for Christmas. Tree trimming is this coming weekend and hot chocolate and cookies will be served to the residents. We will be making Christmas decorations for the tree. We want to celebrate the season with activities the residents will enjoy. Headstart is coming tomorrow to sing for the residents. They will also be coloring pictures with the residents.
We would like to welcome Lester Stierlen to our home. We look forward to celebrating the holiday with him and his family.
We wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving with their families.
