United States Army Specialist Matt Buchanon stopped by Ava Victory Academy on November 21.

Jaren Adams, a third grade student at Ava Victory Academy, was "playing soldier" when United States Army Specialist Matt Buchanon stopped by the school on Nov. 21.
Spc Buchanon is the son of A.V.A. second grade teacher Ms. Williams
He, his wife and four of their children, along with a grandchild, were here for Thanksgiving.
He talked with students from first through fourth grade about the military and his tour in Iraq.
Students were amazed as Spec. Buchanon unpacked his backpack to show them how much equipment a soldier carries in the field.
After repacking it, students each got to try lifting the pack; most realizing it was heavier than they expected.
Spc. Buchanon is stationed at Fort Rucker, Alabama.
