Steven R. Sloan, 68

Steven R. Sloan, 68, of Kissee Mills died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2010 at the home of his daughter in Cleveland, Texas.

He was born on May 6, 1942 in Springfield, Mo., the son of J.W. and Juanita Sloan.

Steve graduated from Bradleyville High School in 1960. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1961-1965 as a radio operator on a surveillance plane and was stationed in Japan, the Philippines and San Diego, Calif.

Steve lived and worked in many different places, including Kansas City, Mo., Dallas, Texas, Phoenix, Ariz., and Houston, Texas where he worked as a machinist and troubleshooter for oil rigs. He returned to Kissee Mills in the late 1980s where he and his wife Alice owned and operated Sloan’s Junction Service at Kissee Mills Jct. for 10 years.

Survivors include his father and stepmother, J.W. and Donna Sloan of Garrison, Mo.; a son, Steven G. Sloan and wife, Marie, of Kissee Mills, Mo.; a daughter, Stephanie McShan and husband, Brandy, of Cleveland, Texas; two sisters, Virginia Sloan, Kissee Mills, and Karen Case and husband, Bob, Bradleyville; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Juanita Sloan, and his wife, Alice Sloan.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 23, at 10 a.m. at Taneyville Community Church in Taneyville.

Burial will be at a later date.
