Clarence Downing, 69 years, passed to heaven on Oct. 13, 2010 at St. John’s Regional Medical Center, Joplin, Mo.
Clarence was born July 20, 1941 in Grand Junction, Colo., to Lawrence and Verleen (Pettijohn) Downing.
Clarence was a resident of Reeds, Mo., and formerly of Springfield, Mo.
Clarence was preceded by his parents and a brother, Lynn Downing.
Clarence is survived by three sons and their spouses, Ed and Norma Downing, Reeds, Mo., Brett and Lorie Downing, Joplin, Mo., and Clarence Ruben and Vicki Downing, Sarcoxie, Mo.; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Charles Downing, Pierce City, Mo.; uncle, Buster Downing, Springfield, Mo.; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
A memorial service was held Friday, Oct. 15, at 9 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, Sarcoxie, and later in the afternoon same day a graveside service 3:30 p.m. at the Turkey Creek Cemetery, Ava, with a visitation before services at 2 to 3 p.m. at the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava. Officiating were Rev. Sam Wilson and Rev. Danny Douglas.
