Rebecca Shields and Sarah Copeland of Ava High School will be marching in the Macy’s Great American Marching Band on Thanksgiving Day in New York City.
Shields, an AHS junior, and Copeland, an AHS sophomore, will both be a part of the flag core selected to represent Missouri as they perform for celebrity hosts, a grandstand audience, and more than 50 million TV viewers watching the broadcast live on NBC.
Approximately 50 flags and dancers will complement the 185 musicians.
The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is internationally recognized as the official start of the holiday season and world-famous as a uniquely American entertainment extravaganza.
